What influences the way a persons voice sounds?

Im very petite, and even at 22 I sound like a child when I talk. Im trying so hard to change my voice but it is still very breathy sounding and high pitched. So thats why im wondering, could my small body be why I have a small voice? or is something else causing it?

I don’t think there is a real scientific answer to this but common sense tells me that body size influences voice. You can usually tell from someone’s voice if they are really overweight or if they’re really tall. If you hear someone with a really deep bass voice they’re usually pretty big. Whereas people who sound younger tend to be slim and maybe shorter.
I hope you can embrace the way your voice sounds. Personally i don’t see what’s so bad about sounding young, maybe when you’re older you’ll agree ;P

size certainly affects voice and so does the speed at which you talk. slow it down a bit
the length of your vocal chords isnt going to change and if you are a soprano now you always will be.
but the speed at which your vocal chords vibrate has some variation and it has to do I think with the speed and volume of air over them
speak with all the air coming from the diaphram. dont try to summon it all from your throat muscles. push it out from your stomach up

Your size and weight might have something to do with your voice, but you don’t have to give up.
Taking some voice control lessons can help you change your voice to some extent (I don’t mean singing lessons, although that might also help). Voice control lessons could be given by a drama coach, for example.

i agree perhaps your size is a factor. sometimes…ive heard that if youve had a trauma at a young age that will effect it as well.
you could take up smoking (just kidding, totally not worth it)
accept yourself for who you are voice and everything. and if you really want to change it then go to a voice trainer.
your voice will probibly change some as you get older…im not sure how much.
hope it works out.
edit: cool name by the way

Genetics, body type, weight, place of residence, gender, hormones and emotions all effect how a person’s voice sounds. Don’t worry about it. You are who you are.
