Advice and Information for Petite Women

If a child looks small(petite) in age, does that mean she has kidney problems?

Alice asked:

A child of 12 months is not as tall as some of the other children her age. Pedi told parents she might have cystic fibrosis. She was tested for that, and came out ok. Dr claims she had low levels of a certain enzyme in her urine test. Now Pedi is recommending parents to take child to a nephrologist for more testing, because Pedi is concerned that she is still small in stature. What do u all think? Parents are a nervous wreck. Child eats well, plays well, etc. Only problem is she is petite in size.

    Petite Sizes

If she is below the fifth centile for age, her height is grossly abnormal and needs investigation. Many chronic illnesses can lead to short stature, including coeliac disease, chronic renal failure, etc.

take the child to the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital run by Masonic or Masons. All child care is free, no questions ask. Paid for by the Mason membership and trust funds.

I have custody of my grandchildren. My granddaughter is 7 now. Since she was a toddler she has been very petite, also constantly sick. She had stomach pains vomiting up until the present, even hospitilized. She too,was sent to a nephrologist.Unfortunately she was diagnost with hypercalceria,to much calceium(little crystals)these can form into kidney stones. She still has tummy issues also. She is sick at least once a day, vomits so often, she is still very short although her weight has picked up.To me is looks like water weight. The drs. sent us home with a diet and said to drink lots of water. Her problem is getting worse,I’mtrying to find anoter dr.Good Luck
