Could be their way of massaging their own egos. Somehow, guys want to be ‘bigger’ than girls in every way while girls are forever striving to be petite. Standing next to someone smaller makes these big boys feel a little more macho.

It’s a bit like on days I feel short, I stand next to my Mam to reassure my wounded ego. But that’s just my opinion as a girl.
