For ladies who are petite, (5″2 and under) how do you buy your pants?
MaryJoeToe asked:
It is hard for petite women to shop for pants and jeans because there are very few places who cater to non- average heights. All though ann taylor has a petite section and some places have SHORT made sizes like express and I think the gap use to do that, most main stream places have clothes made for averaged height people. I lately have been cutting the bottoms of my pants. Not a good idea if it is very expensive. So what do you do? (this is for women who are of the height 5′2 and under)

I am not the height you are asking about but I am 5′5″ and have a terrible problem with pants. They either fit in the rise but are far too long in the leg or they fit in the leg but the rise is far too short. I finally decided to fit my pants to the rise and then hem them. Dont just cut them off as they will get frayed but hem them afterwards. Learning to sew is not a big deal and is really easy to learn. If you don’t like to sew, then find a local seamstress who will hem them for you. It might cost $10 but then you have a pair of pants that fit GREAT!

I am 5′0 and it ***** finding pants.
I just fold mine under. Petite sizes never fit me right, they always look like high waters on me.
You could learn how to hem your pants though, with a lttile practice it’s not very hard and it’s an inexpensive way to go.

I get my jeans from Abercrombie and American Eagle. I’m 5′1 and I get the short in both and they fit pretty good.

I’m plus-sized and 5′3″ so most pants are about 4″ too long on me (they make the plus-sized ones longer). I have learned to sew so that I can hem them up. Jeans need to be hemmed with a sewing machine to look right, but dress slacks are easy to hem by hand, and look better that way. If you don’t want to try sewing them yourself, find a local dry cleaners that does alterations, and get them done there, or find a seamstress in your area.

Go to Abercrombie. Their clothes are only for petite people. I go there all the time. Another store is Hollister, but I dont know if they would fit you. Good luck!
