Can David’s Bridal bridesmaids dressess be ordered in petite sizes?

I have two bridesmaids in my WP who are less than 5ft tall. They are closer to 4′10″ and 4′11 inches tall. I recently took all the girls into the store to try on the dresses and the dresses just seemed to engulf them. I didn’t think about asking for petite sizes at the time and the salesperson never mentioned it. The girls also wear a size 0 but Davids Bridal dressses begin at size 2. If I keep these dresses they will need major altering and, even then, I’m not sure the problem will be resolved. I am considering changing the dress altogether but I don’t think it will be fair to my other BMs who all love the dress. I just want everyone to look beautiful and right now this dress is just not working for these two.

I’m pretty sure they only sell regular and plus sizes. Your best bet will be to get the dresses altered or find new dresses. You could always have some bridesmaids in one dress and other ones in another of the same color. The smaller girls will probably understand if they have to wear different dresses than the other girls. I’m sure they would rather look great than wear a would-be pretty dress that looks like a heap of fabric on them. If you desperately want all the same dresses, then talk to the people who will be doing alterations and see what they think about the dresses fitting the small girls.

No, I work at David’s Bridal and currently we do not carry Petite sizes in BM dresses (although our new Petite line in Wedding Gowns will start arriving next spring).
My suggestion (if you don’t want to pay for the alterations) is to put them in Junior Bridesmaid dresses. These come in girls’ sizes 6-16. I know it might be a little humiliating, but honestly we have several styles that match or coordinate with the regular Bridesmaid styles.
Honestly, though, it would be better to just go with the alterations.

nope - no bridesmaids dresses or bridal gowns come in petite sizes. You may be able to find something appropriate in a pre-teen size. It’s worth a try…
You may also think about giving up on David’s for the BM dresses; instead, go to a department store like Macy’s that has a good petite section. You may also be able to have dresses custom made. Typically custom tailoring is expensive, but it probably won’t be more expensive than the dress prices plus the prices of the major alterations you’ll need for these two friends.
Unfortunately, those of us who are small typically have to fork over the money for alterations. Jeez- i know your bridesmaids must be having a really hard time finding something to fit. I’m 5′2″ and have to get everything altered! My wedding dress is a 2 and I’m having about 4 inches taken off the hem and I have to have the sides taken in as well. It’s annoying as s*** that wedding attire does not come in short people sizes!!

Oh - look at Jr. Bridesmaids dresses as well. Your BM’s probably won’t be insulted - if they’re that tiny, they’re probably used to looking at kids’ clothes. I’m 30 and occasionally find something for myself in the pre-teen section!
