My daughter is in eighth grade and petite. She’s worried about her formal dress?
Ron J asked:
She’s about 4 ft. 7 in. and is having problems with dresses. Its not my subject so I need help. She wants to find a dress for her formal but can not find her size. What should I do to help her?

you could go to children stores they usually have pretty dresses such as siblings (in canada) but in america i think they have a store called limited too. the dresses there are pretty nice, but its pretty much rare to find them. or you can always go to teen stores buy the smallest size and get it adjusted by a tailor. : )

she shouldn’t have much of a problem if she’s petite. they have good dresses at [some common stores]: macys, debs, jcpenney, nordstrom
she can shop with her friends for a dress. maybe it’ll be easier with their opinion. if she finds one, tell her to put it on hold so you can approve it and then buy it for her

depends how much you are willing to spend. If there is not to much of a price range then i’d hire someone to custom make one. If there is a budget ask some dress stores if they do a petite line. They usually do.

Something with a v-neck ( not to low though) to elongate the neck.
Some sort of flowing bottom part. You probably want to go longer, or something with a straight bottom part.

I think you should be able to find something in the junior’s section in Macy’s. Maybe a junior bridesmaid dress from David’s Bridal. Definitely something with straps. I would say nothing poofy, because of her height. (I’m 5′1 and poofy just makes me look shorter). It’s easy to get dresses altered, too!

After trying department stores for formal dresses I go to a place like Davids Bridal. They have spacial occasion too and can do any sort of alteration for a small fee. I’m 5′ 3 but for a full length dress it’s still rough. I managed to get a dress + alterations for 100$ and it’s beautiful.
