Finding my correct bra size?

Zoe B asked:

Okay, I’ve looked at AAALLLL kinds of pages and found out how to measure to get your bra size BUT there is one little tiny specification I need to ask about. Do you subtract band size from bust measurement before or after adding inches to your band size measurment. I’m extremely petite and there is a HUGE difference on cup size depending which way I subtract.

Go to a good bra store and have the clerk/sales person measure you. I did and wow what a difference.

It feels and looks so much better wearing the right size.

I’m not sure about the equation to figure it out, but if you go into a good department store or a Victoria’s Secret, perhaps, they will measure you and fit you correctly. A bit embarrassing, but to find the correct fit is very important. Good Luck

The trouble with the four inches is that not all brands nowadays require you to add the four, which is bothersome. And as fond as I am of Victoria’s Secret, their job is to sell the product, and it’s hard to go in and not feel pressured for me, even though they don’t carry ones that fit me.
But typically, it goes in this order (I’ll do mine along with you):
    1. Measure below the bust, where the band will sit. (I measure 26 today)
    2. Add four to this number. If it is odd, round up so it is even(30)
    3. Measure at the fullest part of your bust. (I measure at just shy of 38 today)
    4. Subtract the band from the bust. (I get eight.)
    5. Figure your cup size using the number above. A 0 inch difference is AA, 1” is A, 2”B, 3”C, etc. (8=H)
    4. Put the two together and you get your size. (30H)
